What’s Your Type
Do you know your blood type and its relationship to nutrition, exercise, your personality and your vulnerability to various diseases? Thought so. You are not alone. Many people have no idea what their type is unless they have generously donated blood at the Canadian Blood Services. More importantly, they also do not know that the wrong diet will negatively impact their blood health. Okay, maybe they know but they are certainly not paying attention.
Your blood type, whether it be A, B, O or AB, affects how your body breaks down and deals with the various foods that you eat. By following proper blood type nutrition, you will feel healthier, lower your risk for certain diseases and lose weight. My purpose for writing this article is to introduce you to a simple and great way to maintain your health. You will very quickly see the benefits of Eating Right 4 Your Type once you start.
Over the centuries, our blood types have evolved with the migration of various groups of people. For example, Type O’s are said to have originated from our Cro-Magnon ancestors in Africa 40,000 years ago. As meat-eaters, they quickly exhausted the supply of big game within their hunting range and this necessitated their migration north and west.
We can learn a lot from our ancestors. Instinctively, they knew what was good for them and survived in the demographics in which they lived. Animals do too. Felines such as lions, tigers, cheetahs, and leopards are meat eaters so you will never find them feeding on carbohydrates. Other animals are vegetarian and will not eat meat. Babies, young children and domestic animals also know what is good for them despite our best efforts to get them to eat things that they continually refuse.
We too have a sixth sense and a protective mechanism when it comes to nutrition. Unfortunately, we tend to ignore it for the mere pleasure of eating.
Many foods we consume today contain lectins or proteins that can cause disruptions in our bloodstream and be the source of diseases. These lectins can cause blood and other body tissues to stick to one another. When you eat a food that has lectins that are not compatible with your blood type, it will result in an attack on your blood. If you continue to do this, day in and day out, year after year, eventually, you will experience the possible breakdown of various organs and cancers. We do have protection from these lectins as a strong and healthy immune system will fight off 95% of them that we consume. Unfortunately, the remaining 5% may cause problems.
Believe me when I say that the “crap” hits the fan at 50! You can get away with a lot of bad eating and drinking habits before that birthday but afterwards, watch out!
When the book, Eat Right 4 Your Type was released in 1996, I know that I was one of the first people to purchase it. Over the years, I read and re-read the pages about my own specific blood type without understanding its full meaning. I made minor changes in my diet and knew that certain foods bothered me. That did not stop me from eating them until I fully studied this way of eating. I constantly use myself as a guinea pig and I now follow my specific blood type diet fairly closely with major benefits. I have also recommended this way of eating to countless people who are also having great results and an overall improvement in their health.
Over the years, many studies have been conducted on the correlation between blood type and diseases. We are all different from one another and our blood is not the only factor that determines the diseases that we are susceptible to. It does, however, play a major part and people who are concerned with maximizing their quality of life should be aware of the effects of blood type.
Losing weight on a diet that is correct for a person’s blood type is also easier than if the diet was more appropriate for another blood type. This is why the Atkins Diet, for example, which is high in protein and low in carbs, works best for an O Blood Type.
Eating right for your type will not harm you. In fact, you will be surprised at how good you feel very quickly. It is a very interesting way to get to know your own body and what foods are best. Try this experiment. Make a mental note or keep a diary of the various foods that bother you. By this, I mean that if they give you heartburn, gas, bloating, a headache or make you burp, write it down. You will be amazed to find out that they are more than likely on the list of foods to avoid for your blood type. Your body knows best!
Perfect blood type nutrition is not just about eating a strict vegetarian diet. Each type thrives on different foods. It can consist of fresh natural meats, vegetables, fruits, dairy, grains and nuts. The choices just depend on your type. What it will do is de-junk your diet by cutting out your desire for processed foods, sugar, the wrong alcohol, chocolate and coffee if they are not right for you.
If you decide to incorporate a few nutritional changes into your diet, you will surely reap the benefits of being disease-free and slimmer too.
